HISTORY

Monsignor Laurence Higgins

In 1988, St. Lawrence Catholic Parish began planning for a much-needed center to house various ministry programs, parish and school events, wedding receptions, private functions, and meeting facilities.

On June 21, 1992 construction began, and in January of 1994, the completed building was named Higgins Hall, dedicated to the parish's founding pastor, Monsignor Laurence Higgins. Msgr. Higgins retired as pastor in July of 2007. Upon his retirement, Fr. Tom Morgan was chosen to be the second pastor of the Parish. 2015 brought the Parish a third pastor, Monsignor Michael Muhr and in 2018 St. Lawrence welcomed Fr. Dan Kayajan. We will welcome Msgr. Michael Carruthers in July 2021 to lead the Parish. He brings exciting ideas for the future of the Parish while still honoring the legacy that Monsignor Higgins established.

Conveniently close to Downtown Tampa, Ybor City, Tampa International Airport, Raymond James Stadium and George M. Steinbrenner Field, Higgins Hall is in the heart of Tampa.
